This paves the way for a forthcoming software update to the Samsung Health Monitor app, expected to roll out to US users in the third quarter of this year, enabling them to utilize this new feature.

To Detect Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), you’ll need a Galaxy Watch that’s compatible with your Galaxy smartphone. Additionally, ensure your smartphone has the Samsung Health Monitor app installed.

The feature will be available to users over the age of 22 who have not been diagnosed with the condition already.

To access this feature, users must wear their Samsung Galaxy Watch during sleep and monitor their sleep patterns twice within a 10-day timeframe, each session lasting at least four hours.

The Galaxy Watch is equipped to track blood oxygen levels throughout the night, detecting potential drops which may indicate sleep apnea or other sleep-related disorders.
